My little baby. He’s growing up so fast!

Being the sidetracked person that I am, my thoughts today have been very random.  Instead of a focused post, you get to read my crazy, randomness.

(This post contains affiliate links)

  1. Next Friday is our 16th wedding anniversary!  Sometimes, I can’t believe that I’ve been alive that long, let alone married that long!
  2. We are going away on a special anniversary trip.  We typically try to do this each year, although last year we skipped.  You wanna know what we’re going to do?  Gotta read the next one…..
  3. We’re going to go grocery shopping.  Sounds romantic, right?  LOL  Actually, we plan to do other things, too but while we’re in the city, we plan to go grocery shopping.  There are way better deals to be had in the city than our small little town with the monopoly of Walmart.  I try to get to a city once a month or at least every couple months to stock up.
  4. One of my favorite grocery stores is Aldi!  I love their produce prices.  Can’t beat a 4 pound bag of oranges for $1.49 or a fresh pineapple for $1 (prices are seasonal).  I also enjoy Sam’s for some of the other things.  Our family always has a large sour cream and a large bottle of salsa on hand.
  5. Other things I hope to do while we’re away:  Eat at Texas Roadhouse (one of our favorites!) & go to a cheap movie ($2 theater) and shop for some clothes.  I’m lucky to have a husband who likes to shop!  oh and while I’m being cheap, we plan to get our hotel on Priceline.
  6. I am in the middle of teaching my 4th child how to read.  We use the book   Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons.  I love how excited she is  about it!  It is so much easier to teach now that I’ve done it a few times.  The book tells you what to say when, but I’m so familiar with it by now, I usually skip over those parts and do it my own way.
  7. My baby is 18.5 pounds now.  He seems to have suddenly chunked up!  Must be all that food he’s gulping down.  He’ll be 9 months on the 29th.  Hard to believe!
  8. I am sore from my gym time yesterday.  I do have muscles in my stomach, I found them!  oh and in my thighs, too.  They’re definitely there!  I go to a lunch class on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a friend of mine.  It’s been fun and challenging, too.  You should see how much my push up has improved!  Yeah, I can move more than an inch now.  Of course, they’re still girl push ups, but I was soooo weak when we first started!
  9. We are thinking about buying a 15 passenger van this year for our family.  We are tired of being squished!
  10. I am going to the 2:1 Blogging Conference in April.  This will be my first blogging conference and I’m really excited!  If anyone reading is interested in sponsoring me or knows of someone who would, I’m on the lookout for one.  Are any of my readers planning to attend?
  11. I’m excited about rummage sale and auction season coming up.  I have got to figure out a way to go shopping and not bring home too much junk though.  My house is too full of stuff.  Then I have to figure out a way to convince my kids to not like going to these sales…because they want to bring home a ton of stuff, too!
  12. Speaking of a too full house, I hope to do a massive declutter this summer.  I’m hoping baby boy will learn to take better naps by that time.  He’s been my clingiest baby yet and he doesn’t sleep well during the day!  He’ll be a year old in June, so I’m thinking things are looking a little bit easier by then.
  13. I noticed ants are sending their scouts into my house today.  Time to keep things extra clean so not to encourage them!
  14. I’d love to do more crafts and home improvement projects on this blog, but so far, time has not allowed it.  Between nursing, home schooling and keeping up with the 6 youngun’s, my time has been quite limited.
  15. We had family pictures taken last Wednesday for our church directory.  It was like the photographer read the book “How to Make Sure the Family Hates Their Picture”.  Yeah, it was bad.  Every single picture someone was blinking or making a weird face in.  We finally settled on one where my 2 year old was in a half yawn, half scared looking face. I felt like I had totally wasted my time!  Now we plan to go out and take our own with our own camera.  Some weekend when it’s not super windy.  Are there any of those coming up?  I hope so!
So there you have it, my very random thoughts for the day!  I hope you all have a wonderful day!  I’ll leave you with one more, random picture of my baby…..just for the fun of it.  🙂

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
