Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies are an exceptional treat! Our family enjoyed making these as a surprise to honor some veteran friends of ours. We love that M&M’s Chocolate Candies come in red, white and blue colors so that we can get a little more festive when we want to!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies Recipe

My husband, Ryan, is a veteran of the United States Army. He has also worked with veterans, as his profession, after getting out of the military. To say that we have a soft spot for our fellow veterans is an understatement. They are a neat group of people! We like to educate our children about how important it is to have those in our country who are willing to serve, as well as how important it is to honor those who have given of themselves to serve in our Armed Forces.

That’s why we decided to make these Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies to give out as treats! They’re super simple to make in that it’s just like whipping up chocolate chip cookie, except they’re a little thicker than your typical chocolate chip cookie.

My husband, Ryan, our kids and our friends all LOVED this recipe so much that they’ve asked when we’re planning to make them again! We said soon, very soon! In fact, I think we’ll make them every Memorial Day and 4th of July if we possibly can.

We found all of our ingredients at our local Dollar General store that is just down the street from us. The M&M’S® Milk Chocolate Red, White & Blue Candies are in the seasonal candy and/or regular candy aisle, so it’s super easy to find!

What Size Pan Do You Cook These Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies In?

Because we were giving them as gifts to veterans, we doubled our cookie bar recipe. We used two 9×13 inch pans to cook them in for about 30 minutes.

What if my Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies are still gooey when I get them out of the oven?

Your cookie bars should look golden on top and when you put a fork into them, it should come out clean. If you cut them and they’re still gooey, I would suggest putting them in for another 5-10 minutes. Everyone’s ovens can differ. When we first made these, we tried cooking them for only 20 minutes and quickly learned they needed a little bit more time.

Where Can I Buy the Ingredients for this Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with M&M’S® Chocolate Candies Recipe?

We found the M&M’S® Milk Chocolate Red, White & Blue Candies at our local Dollar General store. They should have everything you need, including white flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, chocolate chips, eggs and more. It’s so convenient to be able to just run in and out of the store in 5 minutes or less on your way home. We love our Dollar General and prefer shopping there as much as we can!

I hope that you enjoy this recipe as much as we did!

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
