Hey busy moms! How are you feeling today? Ready to conquer the world?
Me? (you ask?)
Ha! I’m not ready to conquer very much these days. I like to take naps and feel nauseated all day. Food is oh so good and oh so gross, all at the same time! Yep, I’m full fledged 13 weeks pregnant and the nausea that I thought was subsiding reared it’s ugly head again!
So….that has got me thinking.
Am I making my kids suffer?
Am I doing enough?
My house is really suffering!
Can I really afford to take one more nap?
Most of you probably aren’t feeling nauseated and if you’re not pregnant, you probably have a lot more energy than me, BUT I have a feeling that all of you go through times that you feel like you’re not doing enough or aren’t good enough. Am I right?
We can’t be Super Mom every day!
While having an ideal of being Super Mom is great, it’s not something we can sustain for forever. I can think of lots of examples of moms who I think are perfect, but even they have struggles. We just can’t see them every day! They’re good at hiding them, even if they don’t mean to. That brings me to my first point.
Don’t Compare Yourself to Others!
So you can’t braid little girls’ hair perfectly?
You’re not super organized?
Your schedule isn’t perfectly planned all day?
You don’t take the time to shower every day like your best friend? (gasp!) 🙂
Your kids aren’t done with their school work by noon (or their homework by 5)?
You don’t rise early? or go to bed early either?
You don’t take the time to do these awesome art projects with your kids?
Your house isn’t decorated perfectly?
You don’t feel like doing anything at all? (Don’t worry, this one won’t last forever!)
What? You’re not SuperMom?
We all compare ourselves to each other don’t we? It’s sad really. Why do we compare ourselves to others when we don’t have the exact same talents, the same gifts or the same background? We’re unique for a reason. Can you imagine how boring our life would be if we were all exactly the same?
B O R I N G
My kids will survive this short time in our lives where I am lacking energy and stamina. In fact, it may be an important lesson for all of us. For me to get creative in how to get things accomplished and for them to learn to step up during difficult times. It is important that things aren’t always peachy. Sometimes our character needs molding! Sometimes we need to be refined in the “fire”. But all is not lost, it will build us into better, more understanding people and even though we’re not SuperMom, (as in Superman who can do anything and save the world, too), I have a feeling that YOU are pretty SUPER!
So here’s my challenge to you!
Embrace Your Gifts!
Don’t Compare Yourself to Others!
Be OK with being you and don’t try to become someone you weren’t meant to be!
You are Amazing, Just the Way You ARE! Embrace It!
