5 Days of Organizing & Cleaning in the Kitchen
brought to you by Fridge Coaster
Day 1: Cleaning Under Your Kitchen Sink.
Today is Day 4, and we’re talking about Organizing our Spices & Pills.
Organizing Your Spices & Pills
Bottles, Bottles, everywhere! I just happen to keep most of my spices in a cabinet right next to most of my pill bottles. It seems that I have A LOT of both! I definitely wasn’t using most of those items on a regular basis!
I found things that expired several years ago up there!
I found hardened spices.
I found lots that I needed to throw out!
Here’s the before pictures:
I pulled everything out and sorted it according to how often I use it. If I knew I’d be using it weekly, I kept it more available to me. The things I knew I wouldn’t be using or were badly expired, I threw out.
I didn’t have anything fancy to use for storage or organizing at this point…so I just made do with a box that I had laying around to contain my “sick” medicines. Anything for congestion, pain relief or allergies went into the box. That will make it easy when sick season comes around again. We can just grab the box out and easily find what we’re looking for!
I had a lot of vitamins up there that I will need to do more research on what they’re for. The frugal side in me is not wanting to throw them away if I can use them for something! I set them aside so that I can research and see if I want to keep them to begin taking them or not. If I don’t find good reasons to take them, they will be pitched or given away. I did not return those vitamins up to this shelf as I wanted to be able to find what I needed. I will find alternate storage in a different area of the house for them, should I decide to keep them.
Here’s the after pictures:
Ahhhhh, doesn’t that look lots better? I don’t think I reorganized this cabinet since I moved here 4 years ago. I guess I just have to take baby steps to get anywhere!
