Did you know that Father’s Day is coming right up? It’s only a couple of weeks away. Do you know what your kids are getting for their dad yet? I’m a sucker for kid crafts. My kids love making things and giving them to their daddy, too! I haven’t yet figured out what we’re going to do THIS Father’s Day (I must get right on that!), but let me share what we’ve done in the past. It’s been a lot of fun making some of these projects!
1. You’re the Best Dad, Hands Down!
I have always had a thing for handprint crafts. I just love how it shows the sizes of my kids’ hands as they are growing up. We thought this one was really cute…and super easy, too. Of course, this is more likely to work for toddler, preschool and elementary aged children only…as the teens may not think this is a fun idea, lol. But…you know. 2. Father’s Day Printable Coupon Book
Would your husband enjoy a little pampering while getting to redeem coupons from his kids? You could make a cute little coupon book sharing how he can redeem the coupon for a free car wash or a free drink made for him, etc. A few years ago, we made up this cute printable book for you to use. Feel free to use it again this year if you like, but the expiration date says Father’s Day 2013. I don’t have time to fix it for you….but you could scribble it and change it to 2016 if you’re not a perfectionist. 🙂 Or, you can just use it for an idea to make your own.
3. A Huge Homemade Candy Card
This one was probably everyone’s favorite, including dad! Ryan loves candy so much and when we saw different ideas for making this card, we knew it would fit him very well. After all, we have made Chris August’s Candy Song my husband’s theme song. Have you heard it yet? If not, listen to it here.
Here’s what the card said (candy chosen in parentheses):
Dear Daddy,We were going to get you a Whopping (Whoppers) (100 Grand) for Father’s Day, but the money slipped through our (Butterfingers). We had (Zero) (Extra) (Whatchamakalits) to sell and it was not (Payday). We thought about taking you to get a ([kit]Kat) or out for (Hot Tamales), but we know you would not like that. We did not think an (Orbit) around the (Milky Way) or a trip to New (York) would work, so (Crunch) this card as we wish you (Mounds) of ([Almond] Joy). We hope you don’t (Rolo)ver and get sick. 4. Framed Pictures of Your Kids
We tried to take perfect pictures for Father’s Day, but it turns out, that’s not possible. Especially not with a large family. When we did try, we tried to write on the bottoms of everyone’s feet. It was supposed to read, “We Love You Dad”, but…um… I couldn’t get it to work. It would’ve been cute, but here is how our attempt turned out…..

If you have better photography skills than I do, you should give this a try. In fact, my 15 year old daughter is thinking of putting our kids out in the wheat field before they harvest it. THAT may have to be our present this year.
As you can see, the ideas we’ve shared are not pristine, perfect craft projects. They’re kid made and made with love. That’s all that counts.
