INSTANT POT GLAZED CARROTS
Just imagine, the sweet taste of brown sugar, butter, and ground cinnamon, tossed over some warm sweet baby carrots – doesn’t that instantly leave your mouth watering?
Being able to use an Instant Pot just makes it that much sweeter!
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ANY BABY CARROTS?
You can use peeled and sliced regular carrots. You simply chop up your carrots into roughly the same size as baby carrots, around 2 inches, and cook them for the same amount of time!
CAN I ADD ANY ‘EXTRAS’ TO THE GLAZED CARROTS?
While these glazed carrots are fantastic just by following the recipe, it never hurts to add your own spin to things!
If you are feeling a little extra, and happen to be a whiskey lover, or even if you aren’t, try adding a splash or two of whiskey to your carrots during the same time you add your water to the pressure cooker. This adds a tasty flavor to the carrots after they are drained and pairs so well with the brown sugar and cinnamon! Worried it will be an overpowering whiskey taste? Fear not! It adds such a smooth, subtle flavor that will leave your family guessing what your secret ingredient is! (don’t worry – the alcohol cooks out!)
If you aren’t about adding liquor, try adding a splash or two of vanilla instead. It will help enhance all of the other components in the recipe such as the brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon!
WHAT DO I DO ONCE EVERYTHING IS INSIDE OF THE INSTANT POT?
This is the best part… you don’t have to do anything! Once the carrots have been cooked, simply let everything cook and do its thing. Start another recipe, set the table, wrangle your kids together. Whatever needs to be done, you will be hands-free to do so during this time, but don’t take too long…these carrots don’t cook for very long.
MY CARROTS ARE TOO FIRM, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
All you have to do is reseal the Instant Pot and cook them on high for a minute at a time until they reach your ideal firmness! Keep in mind, if you plan to keep them on warm while the rest of your meal is being prepared or finishing up, they will cook more during that time as well and you do not want them to get all soggy and mushy.
CAN I COOK THIS EASY INSTANT POT GLAZED CARROTS RECIPE AHEAD OF TIME?
You sure can! Follow the directions as you normally would. Then when you are ready, simply place them in a pan and reheat them on a low-medium heat until the sauce is no longer thick, nicely melted and ready to be served. Or you can warm them up in the microwave.
IS SALT OPTIONAL?
Yes, salt is optional. However, you want to keep in mind that salt, similar to the bourbon or vanilla, will really help to make the flavors standout! Do not be shy and trust your inner chef!
OH NO! I HAVE VEGANS IN MY FAMILY, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!
Don’t stress, we have the perfect solution!
Instead of using butter, you could substitute it for vegan butter. Then just swap the honey for some maple syrup and just like that, you have a vegan-friendly, easy Instant Pot glazed carrots recipe!
