Do you like bread as much as I do? I’ve seen the 7-up Biscuits recipe floating around Pinterest for a while now and was always intrigued to give them a try. My friend Holly took the challenge and sent me these pictures, raving about them!
She said they’re really easy to make in a jiffy and there’s no need to let them rise. I just happen to be a last minute person, so finding a biscuit recipe that tastes great and works for my last minute schedule, is a great find to me! 🙂
The one thing that I don’t like about this recipe is that it uses biscuit mix (aka Bisquick). I’ve never been one that likes to keep that on hand. I’m good at not using it up. But, if you want to make some so that you don’t have to spend the money on the real stuff, it’s not hard. I’ve done it several times before. Here’s what you do:
Homemade Biscuit Mix:
10 cups All Purpose flour
1/2 cup baking powder
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 cups shortening
Mix first 4 ingredients together and then cut in the shortening, mixing it until it becomes crumbly. Store in air tight container for up to 6 weeks. You can also store in the freezer for several months.
If you don’t have shortening on hand, you can switch this out for 1 1/4 cups of oil instead.
