I’m not a big fan of paper plates. I do like them when there’s large crowds that you’re feeding, but it’s very hard for me to buy them on a regular basis as it makes our expenses go up quite a bit…because we use A LOT of plates! (There’s 8 people who live here and 3 meals a day eaten here on most days). I DO love not having the extra dishes when we use paper plates.
I was at a rummage sale one day and ran across a bunch of baskets like they use in restaurants. I decided to pick up several and try using them at lunch time when we eat things that don’t require silverware. We put a cloth or paper napkin in and as long as the basket doesn’t get dirty, we don’t have dishes. Sometimes it requires being rinsed, but normally, just throw the napkin away (or in the wash if you’re using cloth) and stack the baskets back up for the next use.
We’ve gotten away from using them as much and have been out of control with the dishes. I think it’s time to start making that a habit once again! Anything to reduce work around here!!
If you’re interested in buying some for your family, you could try a restaurant supply store or they have some at Amazon.com. They normally sell them by the dozen.
