Full Disclosure: I received products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the LISTERINE® 21 Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Last month, I shared with you how I was going to take the 21 Day Listerine® Challenge. My goal was to brush, floss and rinse with mouthwash twice a day for 21 days. After all, they say you have to do something for 21 days before it becomes a habit. I even got my kids involved on the challenge. 3 of them faithfully filled out their daily printable checklist that I made them, and they used up the whole bottle of Listerine® Smart Rinse. 🙂 I guess that’s what happens when we use it so regularly.
My Results
I was already good at brushing twice a day, but despite being told many times by my dentist, I’ve always been bad at consistently flossing. As for the rinsing, that was basically non existent. The best thing I took away from this challenge was flossing so much more regularly. In fact, I was put to the ultimate test. After about 2 weeks of being on the challenge, my dentist called and wanted me to come in for a cleaning. I had been put on the waiting list when they had to cancel my appointment a couple of months ago. How ironic that they happened to call while I was on the Listerine® 21 Day challenge. 😉 I went to my appointment and I received a glowing report. My dentist was saying how I was doing such an amazing job with flossing and how I should keep up the good work. SCORE. That was good to hear! My gums are much healthier now. My gums no longer bleed when I floss either. I’m still not crazy about using the mouthwash, so I don’t do it as often as the challenge suggests, but I’m doing it more than I was.
My Kids’ Results
My kids would always brush their teeth before bed, but I was kind of bad about making sure they did it twice a day or even ever flossed or rinsed. The ones who took part in this challenge did an amazing job! They finished every single day. I loved seeing them so motivated to floss. They were so cute. And you know what? They are still continuing with the habit. Yay!
As you can see from the printable below, she had used it well. 🙂
