Don’t you just love summer? School is out. Memories are in. Sure, we make memories during the school year, too, but there’s just something about summer time that makes me embrace making memories all the more. Probably due to the fact that there aren’t as many things on our schedule!
One of our favorite ways to make memories are around the campfire.
What a beautiful campfire we had, too! Of course, with a campfire, you must have S’mores!
Did you know that The Hershey Company makes more than 500 million Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars a year? and Americans buy 90 million pounds of marshmallows a year?! That is A LOT of chocolate and marshmallows. I wonder how many S’mores are made in America each year? I suppose it would be hard to get an accurate number.
Once we built the fire, we had to find some roasting sticks. Since it’s been so hot here in the Midwest, we found some extra long ones…so we didn’t have to get too awfully close to the fire.
They worked like a charm!
It’s serious business roasting those marshmallows so that the S’mores will be just perfect!
MMMM, MMMM, Good! I’ll say that’s mighty perfect for me!
Now it’s time to eat them!
Even the baby had to get in on the action. We put small little pieces of graham crackers in his snack cup.
Of course, after the perfect S’more, if you’re a kid, you’re going to be sticky. If you’re the mom helping them , you’re bound to be sticky, too!
After all, I’m the one who has to put all that chocolate on their graham crackers!
After we had fun eating S’mores, we let them cool off by playing in the hose water. More fun &memories!
If you decide to make some memories of your own and make a campfire, please keep in mind that with the severe drought conditions in much of the United States, you may want to keep a hose or bucket of water nearby your fire. Also, you may want to check with your local authorities to find out if there are any burn bans in place.
Do you enjoy eating S’mores and bonding around the campfire?
