As a busy mom of a bazillion kids, sometimes I drop the ball.  Sometimes, I don’t plan ahead for supper and have to figure out something quick and easy.  It happened to me last week.  I HAD to get kids to karate and there was absolutely NO time to make dinner.

I did, however, have these cool little divided plates and was able to throw together a quick meal that they were totally excited about eating.  They just took their meal in the car with them.  It was perfect.  They loved how I wrote them little notes on their DOLE Mixations ®.

Quick Dinner Ideas for Kids

I love to have a list of healthy dinner ideas on hand, for times like this!  The kind that takes hardly ANY time to grab and go.  So, here’s my go-to list….

  1. Sandwiches
  2. String cheese
  3. Boiled eggs
  4. Broccoli or carrots and dip
  5. Carrots and hummus
  6. Pretzels or chips
  7. Quesadillas
  8. Meat & cheese Roll ups (in a tortilla, using lunch meat or a rotisserie chicken)
  9. Crackers, meat and cheese
  10. Nuts
  11. Fruit
  12. Canned vegetables (My kids will sometimes just eat these cold)
  13. Mac & Cheese (if time allows)
  14. Bean & cheese burritos (take a can of refried beans, place beans on tortilla, top with cheese and microwave)
  15. Chef Salad (using lunch meat or rotisserie chicken and pre-chopped veggies)
  16. BBQ chicken sandwiches (using a rotisserie chicken & BBQ sauce) & canned baked beans
  17. Tuna Salad & crackers
  18. Egg salad & crackers
  19. Yogurt cups
  20. Canned soup
  21. Ramen Noodle Soup
  22. DOLE Mixations®

When we were in our time pinch last week, I threw them together this meal, because I had it on hand.

  1.  A ham sandwich
  2. Baby carrots
  3. DOLE® Mixations

The dinner container was even big enough to stick a spoon in.  They were so excited to get

DOLE Mixations, that they didn’t mind a bit, having a sandwich for dinner.  The biggest problem was deciding what flavor they were going to eat…as they’re all so good!

DOLE Mixations comes in 4 different flavors:

  • Apple-Strawberry Sauce with Dices of Apple
  • Pineapple-Mango Sauce with Pineapple Pieces
  • Peach-Apple Sauce with Pineapple Pieces
  • Apple-Raspberry Sauce with Dices of Apple

Their sauce is so smooth and you get actual, real chunks of fruit in every cup.  YUM!  They are non-GMO*, contain no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, are gluten free and rich in Vitamin C!

My kids LOVE all of the flavors, but, their favorite is Apple-Raspberry Sauce with Dices of Apple.  I don’t blame them.  It was really good.  I LOVE how I can write fun little notes on their cups.  It will help me to keep track of who wants want flavor AND it helps me to remind them just how much I love them, too!

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
