Today is the last day of my series, 5 Days of Using Your Slow Cooker.

If you have stuck around this long, I hope that you have learned a little and have been inspired to use your slow cookers more often.  When you’re sidetracked like me, it is sometimes the only thing that keeps you sane by the end of the day.  Having dinner already cooked and ready to go so that I can relax a little is a big plus in my day!

There are so many good resources out there on the internet and in book form, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite places to get recipes.   I often change the recipes up a little to make them what our family will eat, but these are great places to start.

My Favorite Slow Cooker Recipe Websites

  • All Recipes – This links directly to their slow cooker section.  What I like about this site is that there are plenty of users who are there and constantly rating them and adding what they would do to make it better.  It helps you to know if you’d really want to make that dish.
  • A Year of Slow Cooking – This is an amazing blog full of recipes that I would want to eat.  Stephanie (the author) challenged herself to use her slow cooker every day.  That’s my kind of friend!  🙂 To top it off, most of her recipes are  GLUTEN FREE if any of you have GF needs.
  • CDKitchen – They claim to have over 5000 crockpot recipes!
  • Better Homes & Gardens – They have a neat little Recipe Finder Tool that you can use.
  • Taste of Home – I like all the pictures on their site.  If you’re a visual person, you’ll appreciate their slow cooker section!
Of course, I can’t not mention the Freezer to Slow Cooker section of my website as well.  In fact, now that I have my favorite recipes recorded online, you’d be surprised at how often I just pull it up there instead of getting the paper recipe out.

My Favorite Slow Cooker Cookbooks

These are the actual books that I own that I refer to often.  Sometimes I feel like flipping through an actual book and sometimes I don’t!

  • Not Your Mother’s Slow Cooker Cookbook

  • Fix it & Forget It Cookbook

  • Fix it & Forget it for Entertaining Cookbook

  • Saving Dinner – This is not a slow cooker cookbook, but has several crockpot recipes in it.  I wouldn’t buy it just for slow cooker recipes, but she has some other great, healthy meals in there.

Thank you for joining me in this fun series!  I do hope that you’ll keep coming back as I continue to add to the Freezer to Slow Cooker weekly menus section of the blog….as well as cheer me on in all of my other sidetracked adventures!

This post is part of a 5 Day Series, that I participated in with 19 other bloggers in the iHomeschool Network.  There were many topics of discussion to include 5 Days of Camping Tips, 5 Days of Educational Apps, and 5 Days of Homeschooling a Special Needs Child.  Click the graphic below to see the other topics.

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
