Hello dear friends!  I hope you all are doing well this week!  I am in the mood to ramble, so I hope you’ll bear with me a little.   Mom Ramblings posts share a little about what is currently going on in my life at the moment and give you many little shortened versions of what I’m up to!  I hope you enjoy…and feel free to ramble a little to me in the comment section.  I’d love to hear from you!

  1. We started school today.  Finally.  I think we’re the last of our homeschool buddies to jump on the wagon.  It went well.  We are starting slowly…..not doing all subjects in one day quite yet!  My brain was a bit mush, just from answering all the math questions.  We’ll find our groove again.  We always do!
  2. My 15 year old son is playing football for a local Christian school.  I drive him there, 15 minutes each way, almost every day.  I’ve been doing it for 3 weeks now and I think I’m finally getting used to the schedule disruption.  Maybe.
  3. My one year old made doing school very difficult today!  I think he’s teething again because he’s drooling like crazy!  I need to find some fun activities to keep him busy near me while I’m helping the other kids.
  4. Our washer & our dryer are in need of repair.  We have a front loader and one of the little plastic agitators broke off.  The door to the dryer won’t stay closed.  I ordered the new parts and they’re $80.  I sure hope they fix them!
  5. Remember when I cleaned out my dishwasher?  Now it’s doing something new….it seems the top shelf doesn’t get washed.  Everything on top comes out greasy.  Any clue as to what would cause that?
  6. My little baby is trying to walk!  He did turn one on June 29th…but he’s been taking his time on taking some steps.  Every night he tries a few more and you should see the look on his face!  He’s so proud of himself!!
  7. I’m about to embark on a new weight loss journey.  I’m going to be grabbing some bloggers to come along with me for the ride!  We’ll all be detailing our progress once a week, starting September 10th.  I’m looking forward to having YOU to keep me accountable!
  8. The farmer that farms the fields surrounding our house is fertilizing tonight.  We were all holding our breath and trying not to gag on the way to the van!  So thankful for air conditioning tonight!
  9. Hair cut day is tomorrow!  I schedule them for every 8 weeks.  I get mine cut and I usually bring 1-2 girls along as well.
  10. Speaking of hair cuts, my little one year old needs one and I keep putting it off.  We cut the boys’ hair in our family….and I can’t bear to do it.  Although, I’m afraid that he’s going to start being mistaken for a girl if I’m not careful!

I believe my 1-year-old is just a bit younger than yours…..I made a few busy bags for her. I made a pom-pom stuffing thing, an I Spy bottle, straws in an oatmeal containiner, and I found a felt book at a yard sale. I'm also trying to blanket train her. We're up to 2 minutes! I'd love to hear whatever ideas you come up with to add to the repertoire!

Jealous here about your 8 week hair cuts! I haven't had mine cut since December! Emerson is a challenge with our school as well. Hope the next few weeks get better and get us (me and you) into a routine we can manage and possibly enjoy. Love the blog.

You're so sweet April. I'm sure our routine that is joining us soon will be old habit by spring! Now babies/toddlers into school…..we may have to get a bit creative!

    1) Started a month ago, still not in the swing. I'll keep trying.
    2) Couldn't bear the idea of sports, so we are skipping (again) soccer, despite my children's wishes. Go you!
    3) Keep us posted if you get a good 1 year old stay out of school trick. We use the "No Fun Zone" (pack n play) some, and it works some. He only cries for a few minutes, but the poor kid can't be expected to spend all day there!
    4) Boo! My Vacuum is in pieces. I understand. But washers are way more important! Hope it fixes easily!
    5) Do you have a spinner on the bottom of the top rack? Is it spinning? Is it clogged? Is your water getting hot enough? Ever try Lemi-Shine? Best of luck.
    6) Awww, baby steps!
    7) Brave! I need to lose weight, baby six was not kind to my shape, but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to use my blog to be accountable. I hope it works for you! Maybe I will be inspired!
    8) No a/c, but ugh. On the up side, tilling dirt and harvesting corn are two of the best smells, so it makes living near the other smells tolerable.
    9) I've never honestly considered having my hair cut regularly, nor my girls'. Perhaps I should. But I only have 3 so I'd have to do all or only one at a time and it gets so expensive. We do the girls on a super rare occasion and mine nearly the same.
    10) We cut the boys' hair as well. I can't bring myself to lose those baby locks either! We've had many conversations about it at our place.

    * Freebie, I took seriously your suggestion to ramble in the comments. Thanks! It save my husband from having to listen to a few words. Good night!

LOL Suzann, I'm so glad you took my offer to ramble seriously!

      1) Wow, a month ago, that's great! 2)Sometimes I wish that we didn't bear the idea of sports, too. My husband loves football, so that makes it easier, I guess. 3) Yes, I'll be on the lookout for something fun to entertain him. Today he spent the day crawling around with a large serving spoon. Once I caught him trying to stir the dog food…and you know what comes next…. eating it! Needless to say, that doesn't take long! 4) Oh…my vacuum broke last night, too. I think it's just the belt though…so I can fix that myself, thankfully. 5) I do have a spinner and I'm not sure how to tell if it's spinning. Any idea what would cause it not to spin? It is not clogged, I checked that when I took it all apart and cleaned everything. I did read that water pressure could be the problem and we have low water pressure….just not sure why it's just now happening. 7) Yes, I'm a little scared to be so public…as I've failed a lot in the past. I think it helps knowing that 10 other people are going to be joining me in the journey, making it public on their blogs as well. 9) I didn't used to do it regularly either…..but I sure do enjoy how much healthier it is now that I'm on a schedule. I usually only bring 1 girl at a time with me, unless more than one need it really badly. It's helped how their hair is looking, too. I'm not very good at doing girls' hair though….so that may be my motivation. Good night to you! 🙂

Any progress on the dishwasher? Once, I discovered mine wasn't spinning purely by running a few seconds, opening the door, checking position, repeat repeat repeat until I was convinced I was right. But I don't remember why it wasn't… Water is a nightmare for us! Oh my! Real water pressure? What's that? I'll link my blog post about my water nightmare and if you get really bored or need something to help you sleep or laugh, you can give it a read, no sense in repeating it all here! https://moozannsmind.blogspot.com/2011/01/life-pla…

Good luck with the dishwasher. We had 3 different ones installed here. Or was it four. Yes, I believe it was. I just can't even remember anymore.

        Goodnight!

No progress yet….but thank you for sharing how you were able to figure that out. It's still working about half the time (not sure about the spin), so we're still using it so far as we've not had much time for fixing it. It will be nice to have good water pressure some day! We are dreaming of replacing lines to get it that way….not sure if we ever will though! and Wow I just read your water story. That is quite the story. I admire you for keeping a good attitude. I'm sure it was hard!!

Hi Sarah! I've been a subscriber for a while, but never commented – this is my first! I just wanted to say that even though you may be the last in your group to start schooling this year, you are still ahead of us! I haven't started yet, and don't plan on starting until after the Labor Day weekend! My hubby is off for 4 days starting tomorrow, so we'll have family time while he's off, then we'll start school Tuesday when he goes back to work….(not only that, but I'm still not completely ready, *sigh*)……

I enjoy reading your blog! Hope you have a great day!

Usually I start after Labor Day, too. I had planned to start earlier this time, but it didn't happen much too early. I figured the 2 days we'll do this week will be a good way to get our feet wet before we dive in much deeper. At least that's what i'm hoping! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, I think we're going to camp part of it!

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
