Are you good at doing girls’ hair?  I’m not.  And I have 4 girls!

Remember me?  I’m the unobservant one.  The one who rarely even notices if you got a hair cut.  But, somehow, I’m supposed to notice if my girls need their hair done, right?  Oh…actually, I do notice.  It’s after we got somewhere with their hair a mess and I realize…..”oh no, I meant to brush their hair!”.  Yeah, I’m a dork like that.  Thankfully, we normally have a brush in the car.

Today, my 12 year old daughter and I went and got our hair cut.  (I have to schedule it for every 8 weeks, otherwise I’ll forget about it and not notice until my hair looks like a shaggy mess.)  My daughter is getting to the age where she wants to look more grown up, but doesn’t have a very good teacher (ahem….me) to teach her how to do her hair.  I decided to ask Donna, our awesome hair dresser, to help us out a little.  She showed her ways to curl her hair and use the flat iron and that made us both happy!  Plus, we got to walk out of the beauty shop with our hair all fixed….feeling pretty special.

After we got home, my 12 year old daughter decided it would be really neat to be able to do hair.  Especially braids and up-do’s.  She remembered reading a blog that showed how to do hair and so we decided to start digging for some ideas.  We finally landed on You Tube.  Oh yeah….the mother load of hair possibilities!

Here are a couple of the ones we tried:

I have never, ever been able to do a french braid before and I actually did a pretty good one tonight!  Yay!  I still need some practice, but I’m so thrilled that I can learn how to do it and not be intimidated by it any more.  It always felt so unattainable before.

This one is a waterfall braid.  I was successful at doing it on the first try.  It looks confusing at first, but once you start in on it, you’ll get the idea.

We also tried the Sideways French Twist.

We’ll definitely need some practice with these, but….I’m glad to have a daughter who is determined to learn some of them!

Do you like to do girl’s hair?  How did you learn?

I actually got a book out of the library on French braiding. It was in the childrens section but it was great! Not I just do the braids in different directions and stuff. Also checked out Pinterest! Love them. I love using my flat iron to curl, the curls look so pretty! Have fun trying new braids and twists.

We own a book, lol….but I still couldn't figure it out from the pictures and wording. I guess I need to see it in action, like the youtube videos. We did check out Pinterest first, but I was getting frustrated with all the links that took you nowhere. That's getting pretty bad on Pinterest unfortunately. I have never tried using my flat iron for curling, but I just read about it and will try that soon, too.

I had long hair growing up so I practiced on myself until I figured it out.

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
