Homemade Flower Costume for Baby & Kids

Last year, we procrastinated on getting our costumes together early enough to share about them.  I was looking through my phone the other day and saw our old pictures and just knew I should let you see!  My now 18 month old was only 6 months old at the time and we had the hardest time getting her to hold still…but we were able to get a few pictures…although some are blurry because she was moving around everywhere!

This costume was super easy to put together.  My older daughters, I just had them wear their costumes with jeans, and with the baby, I put tights under her onesie, so she’d have something to keep her warm.

Here’s what we did:

How to Make a Homemade Flower Costume

Supplies:

  • White T-shirt or onesie
  • Green felt
  • Fabric glue
  • Fake flowers (or flower clip)
  • Head band
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cut out a stem and leaves to be glued on the shirt.
  2. Use fabric glue to place it on the shirt.
  3. Glue, clip or wrap flowers around your purchased headband.
  4. Enjoy the utter cuteness that your kids bring about!

This was a super easy costume, that was fun to be able to make where they could all 3 match.  They loved it!  And we were proud that we could come up with something so easy, yet cute.  It’s hard to match bigger kids with the baby sometimes, but the older girls were so excited to get to match their baby sister!

Here’s some of our crazy bloopers the day I was trying to get bloggable pictures of the costumes…..

I could never quite get everyone to look the same direction….but I couldn’t resist the baby’s face in this one!  She’s adorable with that huge grin!  She loves her mama!

But then, curiosity got the better of her…and she had to know what big sister was doing with those flowers on her head!

We were walking in a parade that day…and I couldn’t resist taking a photo of her sound asleep, looking like a little flower princess!

I still don’t have this year’s costumes completely planned…..but my oldest is making tutus for herself….we may have to do a tutu year for everyone.  I’m sure I’ll keep you posted on Facebook.

P.S.  I’m going to be switching over my email client and will no longer be sending you every single blog post in an email.  You will likely get a newsletter and/or sponsored post once or twice a week.   My goal is to increase the amount of value that you receive from me, while minimizing the amount of email you’re getting from me.  I know for most, every single post I write doesn’t need to come to you.  I will have a list of the links in each newsletter, so you won’t miss anything if you don’t want to.  Thanks for your support.  I really appreciate you!

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
