Get Healthy and Motivated in 2012

Now that we’re done with all the Christmas parties, candy, presents and extraordinary eating, it is time for me to focus a little more on getting healthy.  I have jumped on the weight loss bandwagon multiple times before just to fall off again.  I know that I always feel much better when I’m actively making healthier choices.  Now is the time for me to regroup, gather some motivation and get my body moving more.

This week, our family joined a gym!  We have been at the gym every day since we joined.  Yep, we’ve spent 3 days there.  We’re on a role!  You should have seen what a “star athlete” I was last night playing racquetball.  Let’s just say, my husband was being VERY patient with me!  Tonight, I DID NOT want to go.   I brought my Kindle hoping I’d at least be able to read, so I sat and read while I was pushing the pedals of a bike.  I barely noticed that I was exercising even though my legs were all wobbly like jello when I got up.  I still plan to do my T-tapp DVD’s, too.  In fact, I think they’re better than the gym, but for now I’m just trying to get into a better routine and set aside some time for the older half of our family to get some exercise (kids 12 and up can go and use the equipment, too).  I may even take my DVD’s with me to the gym and do them there.  They said that I can use their TV and DVD Player in the workout room for any DVD’s I may want to use.

So what does this have to do with you?  I’m hoping that YOU will join me!  Yes, you heard that right.  I need some motivation.  Some companions to “run the race” with.  I need your ideas and your pat on the back.  I need you to tell me it’s OK when I mess up and to not give up!  So, in the spirit of having motivation, I decided to host a blog hop linky party here on Sidetracked Sarah.  It won’t be all about losing weight, but about getting healthy in general.  So, get your motivation on and join me on Mondays at Get Motivated Mondays!  We’ll start Monday, January 2nd.

What kinds of posts can I link up?

  • Recipes that help you focus on eating more healthy. (smoothies, raw, low carb, etc.)
  • A weekly success story
  • Any tips that help you to lose weight
  • Ways that you changed your health for the better
  • Anything that has to do with healthy living and/or eating.
Is there anything that I can’t post?

  • Please no advertising from businesses.  I want this to be a woman to woman link up, not a “try to sell my product” link up.
I can’t wait to see what you all have to share!  I’m looking forward to seeing you here on Monday.  The link will probably show up late Sunday night!

Thank you so much! As a special needs mommy these recipes have helped us so much.   I often am very busy with being a nurse for our child that I don't have time for making sure we get meals.  This allows me to do all my prep on the weekends, while my husband is home to help, and to cook during the week.  So grateful!

Sarah’s Freezer to Slow Cooker ebooks have been a fantastic addition to my meal plans.  They make meal planning easy and my family happy. I love the way each recipe is laid out, with a shopping list and ingredient prep list, along with cooking instructions. Sarah’s done all the hard work for me!  The recipes have used have all been delicious and easily adaptable to my family’s taste and the number of people I’m serving.

I purchased all of your freezer to slow cooker ebooks a month or so ago and I'm in love with this way of cooking.  I now have taken all 10 weeks of recipes and written them of my menu planner and then I repeated the 10 weeks and will continue to do so throughout the year.  My family of 5 adults and 1 child enjoy the meals that you have planned and I have cooked and I'm excited that the next time when that meal comes due up in the rotation I won't have to purchase anything but just pull it from the freezer.  Thank you so much

This makes my life so much easier. I'm a busy work at home/stay at home mom, wife, business woman and I feel like dinner is always the thing I just never get time to do. We have done like 15 of the crockpot recipes from Sarah and they are all very yummy. They get a thumbs up from my husband and kids every time. And there is always enough for my husband to take the left overs at least 2x per recipe. I have a family of 5, 2 adults, 21, 13, 16. So it makes plenty. Thank you Sarah.

I am a 59-year-old wife and mother of two grown children.  I love your idea of fixing a lot of meals ahead of time and then pulling one out, put it in the crockpot, and you have dinner when you get home.  I hate feeling rushed when I cook so Monday - Friday I use those crockpot meals and make enough that we have lunch the next day.  I take Sunday afternoon, fix up what I need for the week (I don't have a lot of freezer space so I do a week's worth at a time) and I'm done with it!  Saturdays I like to try new recipes from some of my cookbooks which I am finding I can freeze as well!  So you have shown me a whole new way to organize my time and still put a healthy meal on the table.  Thanks so much and I look forward to future blogs.
