Routine. Something I struggle with. I do have a routine, but I don’t always follow it to the T. I like to get up, lay around, check my email and waste the morning away. I am not a morning person! I could stay up until 2:00 a.m. every night! In the school year, that doesn’t work so well. Thankfully we take summers off so that I can do that every now and then! Because, my body wants me to be lazy in the mornings, I try to follow a bit of a routine. Does it work each and every day? No….but it’s getting easier as time rolls on. It is definitely something I’ll continue to focus on this next school year! I have a secret, messed up (for me) dream of wanting to make a schedule in 15 minute blocks. It’s not a good plan for me, because I am way too spontaneous. Routine fits me way better!
- We can keep our homeschool’s focus on God and what He wants us to learn.
- We will actually accomplish most of what we set out to do if we have a bit of order to our day.
- We can take time for field trips.
- The house will not fall apart too quickly as we’ll have a routine in place to keep it under control. (we need more work on this one…chore cards need to be revamped I think!)
- You can take time for fun projects, like science experiments, fun crafts and silly read alouds.
- You won’t have to worry that the kids aren’t getting the best education that they can get, as you’ll be getting school done in regular intervals.
- You’ll have dinner planned and ready at a decent time, making the rest of your life flow. (for more ideas on that check out my Freezer to Slow Cooker section of the blog)
- It makes your school time go faster, since you know what you’re doing and the kids know what to expect.
- It helps your children become more independent. When they’re more independent, they “own” their education and see learning as part of their every day life, not as something they have to do.
- It helps when juggling little ones on top of your Homeschooling demands.
