‘Tis the season for lots of apples. I do love the apple season when the apples are cheaper and we can afford to get them more often! I was browsing Pinterest the other day and saw lots of different baked apple recipes. I was thinking that my family would like to try it out but I couldn’t find a recipes that I was happy with. Finally, I decided to do a little recipe combining and made my own variety. It’s kind of like apple crisp! So delicious!
Here’s the Recipe:
Slow Cooker Baked Apples

- 6-8 Apples (We used Gala)
- 1/2 cup of oats
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- Butter
Directions:
Core your apples with a knife, making sure to remove all of the core, but the very bottom part.
Mix oats, brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.
Fill each apple with your mixture. Place them in the slow cooker.
Put a pat of butter on each apple.
If you have any left over topping, spoon it over the top. I had to laugh as I was watching how my girls crowded around to get in on the apple making action!
Cook on high for 2-3 hours. Remove from the slow cooker with tongs and serve on a plate. So delicious! (oh wait, I think I already said that!)
As you can see, my apple cracked as it was cooking. If you don’t want it to crack, you can peel a ring around the top about 1/2 inch in width. We made them disappear so quickly, the cracks didn’t bother us a bit!
