Our family has adopted a new idea. Actually, it’s an old idea, but we seem to have lost it along the way, in the midst of all of our busyness. Here it is though…..
We want to have FUN together! We want to MAKE MEMORIES together!
Seriously, I know every family loves having fun, but isn’t it easy to get caught up in every day life and forget to actually do it? I know for us, the past couple of years have been interesting. We’ve had health issues, a new job, a new baby, home construction, plus we have 7 kids to keep up with. Life can seriously get crazy!
What does this mean for us?
We’ve already gone camping in our new camper 3 weekends in a row and plan to do plenty more!
We’ve hosted a party for a friend.
This weekend, we’re hosting a graduation party for my son who is graduating from our homeschool this year!
My husband and graduated son are going to a great big paintball adventure park to spend some time being guys together and hang out.
My 3 older girls are in Children’s Summer Theater and are having the time of their lives!
We’re all going to a family water park this weekend in Kansas City called Schlitterbahn!
Going to Schlitterbahn!!!
Way back when we only had a couple of kids, Ryan and I lived in Texas and I remember driving right past a cool water park in New Braunfels (near San Antonio where we lived). It was called Schlitterbahn and it always intrigued me. I remember loving water parks as a child, so it was something I had hoped to get to do. While we lived there, I only had a toddler and I was pregnant. My husband was in training in the Army and we didn’t get much time away, so we never made it out to the water park during the short 8 months we lived there. However, last year, I remember seeing a sign for the new Schlitterbahn being built in Kansas City.
We were at a nearby business one dreary day, when we saw the World’s Tallest Water Slide that Schlitterbahn Kansas City is proud to host, in the making. It towers above anything nearby and looks crazy scary! We’ve been watching online videos of that slide ever since we saw it in the beginning phases. We’ve all been so intrigued and yet… I’m not about to get on that slide (like ever!). 🙂
I also find it interesting that Schlitterbahn was the first water park ever to be made. I love that they let you bring an ice chest in (imagine how much $$ I’d be spending feeding 9 people there!) and they don’t charge you to park.
Well, it just happened to work out that we get to take all of our kids to this really cool, new water park this weekend in celebration of my daughter’s 13th birthday. We’re all really excited and I can’t wait to share pictures with you when we get back! You know, cuz we’ll be making memories and have to capture them!
If you’re like our family and have gotten away from enjoying life a little, take a moment to think about what you can do to make life a little more exciting! Go to the park, go hiking, host a party or two, get together with other families, encourage one another, or even go to a water park! Whatever you do, be sure that you’re embracing life and not just tolerating it!
In the mean time, I’d love to hear about how you’re making memories with your family! After all, a family who plays together, stays together!
