I’ve never been much of a shoe person. Growing up, my feet were always different sizes and one shoe never fit quite right. So, when it came to my kids, I carried on that tradition of not being much of a shoe person. In fact, my babies typically go barefoot (or sock footed, depending on the season) until they can walk. Since I don’t like to pick shoes out, I’ve been procrastinating on making our first shoe purchase for my baby.
Recently, my skinny little baby, transitioned into a toddler! She’s now walking EVERYWHERE! And the poor girl had no shoes that fit any more. We actually did have several pair of baby shoes that someone had given me, but she rarely wore them and they never seemed to fit quite right.
Recently, I was given the opportunity to try out a pair of Stride Rite shoes, so naturally, I jumped at the chance. It was perfect timing for us, as my newly turned toddler needed her first real pair of shoes and it would make me stop procrastinating.
I have heard so many amazing things about Stride Rite through the years, so I just knew that I’d be happy with their shoes. Sure enough, they’re amazing! We are trying the Made 2 Play Collection, because I was reading that they are machine washable! I know my toddler will need that nice little feature…as you never know when she’ll choose to run straight through a mud puddle (which ironically just happened a few days ago)!
Here are some other features that we love about the Made 2 Play Collection:
- They have a grip & go strap that makes shoes easy for kids to put on & take off by themselves
- The toe of the shoe is reinforced for durability
- Each shoe has a memory foam insole for added comfort
- They have an anti-stink lining that helps keep shoes odor-free (Yes, please!)
- They are designed with dirt-shedding soles
- High user ratings – consistently 4.5 – 5 star reviews
We went into the Stride Rite store in Tulsa to pick out our shoes. They had several different pairs to pick from, but my favorite Stride Rite Made 2 Play for girls shoe was the Mary Janes. Aren’t they adorable? (they also have Stride Rite Made 2 Play for boys)
The staff at the store quickly sat her down and measured her foot to make sure she’s in the right size. They checked the width of her feet to make sure they get her into a shoe that fits well. The stores carry all of the varying widths of shoes that your children may need, too, so no more searching for wide shoes in your size! The staff is amazing and make the shoe purchase go smoothly and quickly!
Quinnly wasn’t sure she could actually walk with shoes on, but she was determined to try out her new shoes right away. She was so proud of herself walking through the mall, with them on her feet. There was no stroller riding for that little princess any more. At least not for a while!
Since we bought them, she’s always very eager to get her new shoes on again and is already trying to get them on all by herself. She’s still a little young for that, but once she gets her fine motor skills under control, I’m sure she’ll be well on her way!
