The daddy in our family is a lover of all things sweet. Candy is his specialty. That’s why, when my 13 year old daughter ran across a card like the one I’m going to show you today, she decided our family was most definitely going to make this for their dad!
Have you heard the Chris August song called, “I Love Candy”? We think it was written just for my husband, their dad! Here’s a youtube video of it, in case you’ve not heard it. Pretty funny stuff….unless of course you’re opposed to processed sugar. 😉 Then, you may be disgusted by it!
So anyway, back on track. My daughter figured out exactly what she wanted it to say, made a list of all the candy that she thought would be perfect for this card and then I set out to find it all. That was difficult. Walmart had most of it, but there were 3 I had to get from Walgreens and one other that only the grocery store had.
We realized midway through that we needed ore room on our card…so we went out and bought another piece of poster board.
Here’s what our card says:
Your (Nerds).
Here’s a list of the candy, just in case you want to copy this exactly:
- Whoppers
- 100 Grand
- Butterfinger
- Zero
- Extra Gum
- Whatchamakalit
- Payday
- Kit Kat
- Hot Tamales
- Orbit
- Milky Way
- York Peppermint Patties
- Crunch
- Mounds
- Almond Joy
- Rolos
- Snickers
- Lifesavers
- Skor
- Reese’s Pieces
- Nerds
And here’s the final product.
The toddler was thinking about yanking some of that candy off and having it for himself. Silly boy!

Funny story! We have lots of pics like that trying to get all 13 little cousins in one shot — yours is too cute! You've been nominated by me for The Super Sweet Blogging Award!

Sarah, that is absolutely the neatest thing I have seen of late. I am going to candy lift it for my husband from our grandson we are raising. Thank you for sharing and blessings from our house to yours.

You're so welcome. We are so excited to give it to him. He'll think it's great. Hopefully he's not been reading on my blog this week! 🙂

Very cute idea. I was going to ask if you crossed out some of the words like kit in kit kat but I could see from the close-up photo that it looks like you did.
Sidetracked Sarah says
Yes, we did! It was slightly imperfect, with capitalization and punctuation in the wrong places….but it was because the kids did it. We're still working on those skills. 😉
