Last week, I shared the Red Velvet Gooey Butter Cookies that we had at our local girls group. Holly also planned a craft for the girls that day. They were going to use painters tape to tape off a word or saying and then finger paint the rest of the page. Once the paint was mostly dry, we pulled off their words (or shapes) and they had a beautiful masterpiece! They had a blast getting creative with it! Generally, when you think of finger painting, you think of little kids. This group of kids were ages 7-13 and they all had fun!
Kids Can Create Their Own Finger Painting Masterpiece
Supplies
- 11×14 poster board (or canvas)
- Finger Paints
- Glitter
- Painter’s Tape
- Scissors
Directions
Using painter’s tape have each child tape off a word, saying or shape. We had a wide assortment during our craft time. Words like “Love”, “Jesus”, “The Party Area”, their name, etc. Or, they can do a shape, like a cross or a heart.
Once the area is taped off, get out your finger paints and paint over the letters and out to all edges of the paper, like this:
Let them dry a bit, and remove the painter’s tape (before it’s all the way dry, or it may peel your paint).
Sprinkle glitter all over and let them dry the rest of the way. Be sure to shake the glitter off before you tip as you’ll be a glittery mess for days!
Here are a few of the finished creations.
